The conference is patronized by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Date:August 23, 2019 Location:Aso,Kumamoto e-Asia Landslide Field Excursion in Aso, Kumamoto We had a field excursion in Aso district, Kumamoto prefecture, to visit the Aso Volcano Museum and to see the current status of Aso district, which was severely suffered by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. Because of bad weather, visits to a large-scale landslide site at the Aso-Ohashi bridge and the Takadake monitoring site were canceled. Date:August 21, 2019 Location:KKR Hotel Kumamoto Guided tour of exhibition booth and attendance of banquet of JLS annual conference held at KKR Hotel Kumamoto. 13:00-15:00 Guide tour of exhibition booth Special International Session THe Japan Landslide Society had an exhibition of equipment for landslide disaster prevention.Many companies showed and introduced their cutting-edge equipment.The e-ASIA member attended the guided tour for the exhibition booths.They learned Japan`s technology for landslide prevention works, such as early warning systems, extention meters, anchors, and measurement systems using GNSS. 18:00-20:00 banquet The e-ASIA members attended the JLS`s banquet.During the session, the members had important opportunuties to exchange ideas with many Japanese reseachers and engineers.

Stop 1 Murobaru landslide (33°08′18″N, 130°59′10″E) Guide: Mr. Tosa, S., Mr. Kawashima, M., Mr. Nishikubo, F. (Japan Conservation Engineers & Co., Ltd.) The Murobaru landslide is one of the largest landslides in Kumamoto Prefecture, which has 1,000-meter length, 350-meter width, and 80-meter depth.
