Date:February 8, 2020 Location:Doi Chang village e-Asia Landslide Field Excursion at Doi Chang village We had a field excursion at Doi Chang village. Stop 1 Doi Chang View – Coffee & Food (19°48’48.4″N 99°33’53.1″E) Dr. Suree and Dr. Suwith explained the outline of the landslide at Doi Chang village by using some documents written by Dr. Suttisak, an associate professor of Kasetsart University. Landslides have repeatedly occurred due to rainfall and earthquakes in Doi Chang village. Date:December 2, 2019 Location:Mt.Fansipan We visited mountainous area around Mt. Fansipan in Lao Cai province (22.303°N, 103.775°E). Topographic feature around Mt. Fansipan (3,143m; the summit of Indochina Peninsula) and several landslides was observed on this excursion. We discussed about the relationship between landslide phenomena and history of landform evolution in the mountainous area consist of granite and limestone etc. at western Lao Cai Province. After lunch, We went back to Ha Noi from Sa Pa. After arriving at Noi Bai area, a farewell party was held and a review of 3days excursion were given by Prof. Hoang. Date:December 1, 2019 Location:at Ta Van village Field investigation of a large-scale landslide at Ta Van village We visited a large-scale landslide at Ta Van village (STOP2, 22.305°N, 103.8975°E), 9km from central SaPa town on the south-east. We also made those investigation of surficial soil as follows at TestPoint1 and TestPoint2. Additional field investigation of small-scale & fresh landslide at Ta Van village We visited two small-scale, fresh landslides at Ta Van village, 250m from the Sa Pa antique engraved rocks museum on the south-east.
